Berlin Theater Meeting

Every year in May Berlin represents the big stage for the young talents from the whole Europe. This May meeting is aimed to support the theater which has threat to disappear as the old type of medium. The Theater Meeting is held together with the Carnival of Cultures, thus Berlin is worth a visit in May.

The Berlin Theater Meeting, Theatertreffen, is preceded by the yearly judgments and discussions organized by the specially selected committee of theater directors, play writers and stage producers. This jury called S tückemarkt in German is working the whole year to select about a hundred unstaged works to be performed for Berlin theater-goers.

Although the Theatertreffen participants mostly present German plays the meeting Stückemarkt usually welcomes the young play writers from other countries to perform dramas in their own language.

The Theatertreffen Jury aiming to support the modern theater is mostly interested in young writers who are attracted by this old art to interprete their ideas and views of the modern high-speed world. So the Stückemarkt is usually appreciated by all young talents and gathers them through the year by announcing the coming Theatertreffen in nwespapers and advertising Theater meeting Festival in all mass media including Internet. The Berlin Theater meeting Jury is convincing – the theater must survive!

Berlin opens its stages for any kind of staging: from classical ones to the modern art focused on a silent staging with wide use of different communications other than language. The modern art is more interested in without-a-language communicatoin to be opened and clear for people from all over the world. The Berlin Theatertreffen represents dance-based, sound-based, picture-based and any other performances. So any traveler will be able to enjoy Berlin Theater Meeting and should not be afraid of lack of German knowledge!

The Theatertreffen Stückemarkt is going to present the six best candidates from 5 May to 21 May this year. Most plays will be of German origin, but again don’t be afraid of German because they are impressive dancing and music performances celebrating our world beauty and reflecting the questions of the modern world.
